Air Leakage Test
Inspection Clipboard

An air leakage test will help determine air leakage in the home which can make areas in your home uncomfortable as well as increase your heating and cooling costs.

This test is performed by installing a temporary adjustable canvass door in the front door frame (known as a blower door test or depressurization test). A fan is installed in an opening at the bottom of the canvass door. The fan is linked to a gauge that will measure the amount of air leaving the home as well as the house pressure. The air leakage is performed at 50 psi of house pressure.

Using a feather or a smoke pencil we will start in the basement and check the header area, windows, electrical outlets, exterior door(s) and exterior wall penetrations on a room by room basis. A list of areas to be repaired will be given to the home owner at the completion of the test.

The time involved is approximately 1 - 2 hours depending of the size of the house.
